RVN position available in the beautiful Orkney Islands

We have a vacancy for an additional Registered Veterinary Nurse, at Flett & Carmichael vets in Kirkwall, Orkney. 

Our ethos is to provide the caring service to our clients and their animals that we would wish for our own. We work as a family-friendly and supportive team and are looking for a RVN who shares our values. 

We are a very mixed proudly independent vet practice, with small animals, beef and dairy cattle, sheep and horses, where the RVN work is mainly small animal. We do also occasionally have horses and calves or sheep at the surgery. We have a very varied caseload due to our location, including emergency and critical care, a wide ranging surgical and medical caseload with some wildlife and exotics plus lab work.

Our purpose built surgery is well equipped with digital DR X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound scanners, endoscope, ECG, pulse oximetry, capnograph, Doppler, cardell BP, tonopen vet, Multiparameter monitor. biochemistry and haematology analysers. 

We have a team of 7 vets (approx 4.5 FTE) and 5 RVNs,  plus a VCA and a SVN as well as our customer care team of 4. We also have a daily cleaner. We are a RCVS practice standards SA General, LA/Equine Core practice and a Veterinary Nurse Training centre.  A second year trainee or experienced non RVN would be considered, and training available. 

This is a permanent full time role 37.5 hours per week plus 1 in 3 to 4 Saturday mornings on a rota, working from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. We can be flexible so alternative and part time hours would also be considered. Protected lunch hour and tea breaks. 

Locum positions are also available.
