We are a proudly independent mixed practice, providing the caring service to our clients and their animals
that we would wish for our own. We work as a friendly and supportive team, and are looking for a
Registered Veterinary Nurse to join us, who shares our values.
We are a very mixed practice, with 65+% small animals, plus beef and dairy cattle, sheep and horses,
where the RVN work is mainly small animal. We have a very varied surgical and medical caseload due to
our location, including emergency and critical care, with some wildlife and exotics plus lab work.
We have a team of 8 vets (5+ FTE) and 5 RVNs and 2 SVN s as well as our customer care team of 5 .
We also have a daily cleaner. We are a Veterinary Nurse Training centre and are working towards to
becoming a Gold Cat friendly practice.
We have vets and nurses with particular interests, such as dentistry, imaging, pain management, rehab,
wildlife and equine nursing and are keen to develop our practice and keep up to date with developments
in veterinary care.
We work closely with several independent referral centres who can offer support and advice for us to
manage more complex cases in-house or until animals can be transported.
We have small animal dental x ray and dental machines, digital xray, ultrasound scanners, endoscope,
ECG, Cardell BP monitor and multi-parameter monitoring, infusion pump, fluid warmer and syringe
drivers, bair hugger, a well equipped laboratory with full Idexx suite including Sedivue urinary machine,
Procyte haematology, Catalyst One biochemistry and Snapshot test machines, plus an Ovacyte faecal
egg count machine, and binocular microscope.
We are very excited to be investing in a new surgery close by which is currently under construction,
allowing us much more space and better facilities for our expanding practice. The whole team has had
input into our new facility’s design, and we can’t wait to move there in late 2025 or early 2026.
We have a monthly whole practice meeting during working hours, as well as regular separate team
meetings for nurses, admin and vets. We are keen to promote the best communication and involvement
within the practice that we can.
Our nursing team have a weekly rota allowing sharing of workload and ensuring excellent care of our
patients from admission, during procedures and in recovery, to discharge. We aim to utilise our nurse’s
skills as much as we can, doing the procedures they are qualified for. We are keen to develop our nurse
appointments further once we have additional consulting rooms.
Our full time working hours are 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, plus a shared rota of approx 1 in 4 or 5
Saturday mornings, working from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.. There is a 1 hour break for lunch every day which
is carefully protected. The nursing team days are 8.30 am to 5 pm or 10 am to 6.30 pm. Our surgery is
open 8.45 am until after our last small animal appointment at 6pm.
We provide a 24 hour emergency service but the out of hours care is covered primarily by the vets’ team.
Our benefits include:
- Approved CPD courses and travel paid for and special interests encouraged
