24 hour emergency service

The latest surgery news and information.

Just a wee notice to everyone that the practice will be closed from 1pm onwards next Friday the 28th of June. Our emergency service will run as normal so there will still be a vet on call if you need us.
We will be open again as normal on Saturday morning. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

National Microchipping Month

June is National Microchipping Month! This means that every dog and cat without a microchip already, is entitled to have a microchip implanted at a discounted rate of only £18.69!

It only takes a short time to place a microchip so you can stay with your pet whilst its being done.

This could be invaluable if your pet is lost, stolen or injured and taken to a vet. Microchips also come with 4 weeks free pet insurance.

Please call the surgery to arrange an appointment.

FARMER NEWS!! - Schmallenberg Vaccine

We have received information from MSD Animal Health that there is now a vaccine available for Schmallenberg virus. For more information please contact the surgery.

Pet Tags

Did you know that, by law, every dog must wear an identification tag with the owners name and address on its collar?

To help you to comply with this we are able to order personalised tags through a company called Pet Tags. We have just received a new display board showing the various types, styles and colours of tag available for your pets and it can be seen in our waiting room.

We take your order, place it online for you and can have your tag delivered straight to your door, usually within about a week (weather depending of course!). So why not come in and have a look at our board and our reception staff can advise you on what to put on your tag.

We all adore our pets, but can you imagine if your pet fell critically ill or was injured and needed to have an operation or go on an expensive course of treatment? What if you couldn’t afford to pay hundreds or possibly even thousands of pounds in veterinary costs? You may have to make a very hard decision about your beloved pet. If your insured pet becomes ill you don’t have to worry so much about money. You pay an agreed excess on the treatment (usually no more than £100 for small animals) and your insurance pays the rest according to the terms. So all you’ve had to do is pay an amount each month and your best friend is covered. When looking into insurance policies, please ensure you have read all of the fine print thoroughly and compare different ones to find the right one for you and your pet. If you are at all worried then please call the surgery for advice and we will be happy to help you as best as we can.

Repeat Prescriptions or Farm Medicines

We request that, where possible, you give us at least 24 hours notice for any prescriptions you require. Our vets are sometimes unavailable and time is required to make up prescriptions, so we may be unable to get your prescriptions ready at the time and you may be asked to wait or to come back at another time to collect them. Therefore, giving us notice not only saves you time but allows our vets to look at your animals history and decide the best treatment. You can call us on 01856 872859 or come in to the surgery to request your prescription.
